New WebDAV Extension to Help CalDAV Clients

A new extension has been proposed to help CalDAV clients confirgure themselves for use with a CalDAV server. The “WebDAV Current Principal Extension” specification introduces a new DAV:current-user-principal property that easily allows clients to find the principal resource of the currently authenticated user.
This will be a big help to clients, as up until now, they have had to use various unreliable or proprietary ways of configuring themselves for use with a user’s CalDAV account.
This is a good example of how ongoing CalDAV deployment issues are being addressed by the community to improve overall interoperability and reliability between different products.
